Ganesh Chaturthi History: Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates on the birth of Lord Ganesha. Lord Shiva and Parvati are his parents. as per the Hindu calendar, the birth date falls on the Chaturthi of Shukla paksha in the month of Bhadrapada and lasts for ten long days ending on Ananta Chaturdashi. Ganesh birthday usually falls between mid-august and mid-September.

This is the story of the birth of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati’s son Ganesha. Goddess Parvati was the creator of Ganapati. In the absence of Lord Shiva, when Goddess Parvati was about to take a bath, she used her sandalwood paste to make Ganesha.

Then in the absence of Lord Shiva, She used her sandalwood paste to make Ganesha. Later she induces life into that idol with her spiritual powers. Then that idol turns to a baby boy (Lord Ganesh).
After that Goddess Parvati goes to bath telling Lord Ganesh to not to allow anyone inside her room. While Goddess doing her bath, Lord Shiva enters Kailasha. Lord Shiva returns to Kailash while Goddess Parvati was taking bath. Lord Ganesha who was standing outside his mother’s room did not allow Lord Shiva to enter the room. Then Lord Shiva gets angry and big war takes place between Lord Ganesh and Lord Shiva. Finally, Lord Shiva defeats Lord Ganesh and cut the head.
When Goddess Parvati comes out after bathing, she sees Lord Ganesha dead. She cries a lot and asks Lord Shiva to resurrect her. Shiva then ordered all his followers to find a child immediately. The first child seen by the followers was that of an elephant and they, as ordered, cut his head and brought to have lord shiva. Lord Shiva immediately placed the head on Ganesha’s body and revived it.
Mother Kali’s wrath subsided and Goddess Parvati was once again overwhelmed. All Prabhu blessed Ganesha and for the same reason, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated.

After some period, Kumara Swamy was born to Goddess. A competition was conducted between Lord Ganesh and Kumara Swamy (Kartikeya) for the leadership of obstacles. The competition asked for a dip in all the holy rivers. and should come first to Kailash.
